Martial Arts
In my humble opinion, the practice of martial arts is the most effective and efficient way to safely condition and develop the human mind and body. There is no journey in life like the pursuit of martial arts skill. If you decide to train at Gig Harbor Karate Academy you will find out for yourself the myriad of benefits that martial arts training offers.
I have founded my own martial arts system called San Do Kuen or the “Three Way Fist,” but it is not a traditional, fixed training program.
Many people get caught up in which “style” is the best, or most effective. In reality, style does not matter. What matters is you (the student) and your level of commitment to training. In any style of martial arts, the people who truly dedicate themselves to training can become excellent, and those who are not dedicated will not become skilled. If you are really a martial arts person, you can become proficient no matter what style you start with.
Is Martial Arts Training Right For You?
There are certain key questions you must ask yourself if you are considering any kind of martial arts training:
- What is the primary reason you want to train?
- Is it for self-defense, for competition, or for fitness?
- How much time are you willing to commit to training?
- To become proficient in any fighting art you must commit to years of hard training. Are you really committed or just curious?
- Are you willing to forget all that you think you know to learn?
- Can you empty your cup?
I encourage you to consider these questions carefully, and when you have answered them for yourself, please schedule a free trial class.
